Rose & Camellia
Munch this, harlot.

Hey look, I still have time to translate stuff for fun sometimes.

Rose & Camellia is a Flash game from NIGORO, creators of oldschool adventure-platformer La-Mulana. You're this woman and these other women are being total jerks and calling you a strumpet and stuff and because it's like the 19th century you totally get to slap them. Righteous!

It's got a totally sweet premise but I don't like how the game doesn't recognize anything ever that's my problem. I was just reading about this game a few days ago, I didn't realize you translated it. That's awesome.

I can't send outbound emails at the moment, so thanks for your email today! I'll put it to good use, but uhh don't be too upset if it takes a while. :)

I had that same problem for a while, but it turns out it's not just general gesture recognition, you actually have to mouse past her face. (Forgive me if you already figured that out, but, I didn't for a while >_>)

I don't like how the game seems to randomly give me critical hits. But the CPU always gets one. :p

wheee! Slapping fights are fun. Just wish I could get the hotspots for criticals down. I'll need those for harder difficulties...

In my experience, the criticals are just a question of moving the mouse faster... I find it helps to 'wind up', like do a little loop-de-loop before you hit them. (I could just be fooling myself, though!)

Saori's crit-spot seems to be more or less across her nose... Shizuka's is more towards her eyes, I think, and Etsuko's is definitely around her chin. I have no idea about the last two.

The developers reformatted the text after I sent it to them. I think originally I had put a break there, thinking there'd have to be a new screen of text, and they must have assumed it was the end of a sentence. I've been debating whether to mention it; I suppose I ought to.

Awesome. Not only is it catfighting, but 19th century period piece catfighting! My favorite!

I wish I was kidding.

You and many others! I still have to read or watch Rose of Versailles at some point, and re-watch Utena.

Rose of Versailles is some classic stuff. For me, that's the style I love the most. The dreamy, Leiji Matsumoto like stuff.

Have you read or watched Brother, Dear Brother (Onii-sama e...)? I've watched most of the anime, and the original manga is by the same author as Rose of Versailles. It falls into the same twisted-shoujo genre, with all the characters psychologically messing with each other and acting like evil court ladies even though they're just 20th-century high school girls.
